Collect N Connect LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the Collect N Connect™ mobile app and website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data, and describes your rights in relation to that data.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you disagree with any part of this policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account information — email address, name, username, encrypted password (via our authentication provider Clerk), profile photo, biography, collector interests, badges.
• Coarse location — approximate city-level location, used to show nearby events, deals, shops, and collectors on the map. We do not collect precise (device-GPS) location.
• User content — posts, comments, chat messages, photos, videos, events, deals, and collections you create.
• Identifiers — internal user IDs (Clerk user ID + our account ID). We do not collect device advertising IDs.
• Usage data — likes, follows, saves, comments, and other in-app interactions used to power feed ranking and creator analytics.
• Communications — support requests and content-moderation reports you send to us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Authenticate you, keep your account secure, and prevent fraud.
• Provide the Service's core features — social feed, map discovery, messaging, events, and collections.
• Personalize what you see (nearby events, feed ranking, recommendations).
• Communicate with you about account activity, security, and important product updates.
• Moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service (respond to reports within 24 hours).
• Improve the Service and develop new features (aggregated, non-identifying analytics only).
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information with the following third parties who help us operate the Service, under contracts that require them to protect your data:

• Clerk — authentication and account management.
• Stream Chat — messaging infrastructure.
• Mapbox — map rendering and geocoding.
• Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering push notifications.
• Stripe — payment processing (for future paid features; not currently active on iOS).
• Cloud infrastructure providers — for hosting, databases, and storage.

We may also disclose your information when required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of our users, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger or sale.

4. User-Generated Content

Content you publish on the Service (posts, comments, events, collections, chat messages) is visible to other users according to your privacy settings. Your username, profile photo, badges, and biography are public by default. You are responsible for the content you share.

5. Content Moderation and Safety

Every user-generated content surface includes a Report button. Reports flow into an admin moderation queue reviewed within 24 hours. You can also Block any user directly from the app, which prevents them from contacting you or seeing your content.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Profile → Settings → Delete Account), your account and content are permanently removed from our production systems. Backup copies are removed within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
• Deletion — permanently delete your account and data from the Service.
• Objection or restriction — object to certain processing activities.
• Data portability — request an export of your data.
• Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on consent.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information.

9. International Data Transfers

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

10. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures — TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, secure authentication via Clerk, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Cookies and Tracking

The mobile app does not use tracking cookies. Our website uses only essential first-party cookies required for site functionality. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, data brokers, or cross-app tracking.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced in-app.
